We've Been Hit

There is so much sickness going around, it makes me not want to leave the house.  When Haylie woke up this morning, she was not her cheery self.  So we stayed home from all activities today so we wouldn't share our germs.  You know H doesn't feel good when she reverts back to taking 2 naps.  When she was awake, her eyes would have goopy yellow stuff and she was leaking snot and nastiness all day.  We have a doctors appointment tomorrow to probably get her on antibiotics.  I love the fact that I can email my doctor and get an answer within an hour if it's something I need to be worried about.  Anyway, we did take a trip in the car today and I snapped this pathetic expression she wore most of the day.

This is her first big sickness and I feel like I should sleep on her floor or something to make sure she is okay.  But I think she'll be fine and will hopefully get some much needed rest.  Tomorrow will probably be a long day.

I was very blessed the other night on my birthday to receive some wonderful gifts.  Since I gave my family a list, everyone was spot on!  I loved it all.  One of the things I got was...
That's right. Pat & Vanna for the Wii.  I love to watch this show and my dream is to be on it some day.  I don't even own a Wii, but I plan on playing this at my parents house every chance I get.

Then from the hubby.  I got a camera...and another camera!  He bought me two so I can try them each out and see which one is better and then take the other back.  One is the Canon Powershot and the other is the Panasonic Lumix.  They each have their pros and cons.  I shouldn't be surprised that he bought me two...he did this once before but with watches.  I guess he just wants me to be 100% happy!

I took these with one of the cameras...hard to remember which one because I keep switching.  Here Haylie is doing the old man butt scratch.

And here she is sporting her black patent leather shoes.  For some reason she is obsessed with these shoes and keeps trying to put them on until I do it for her...

Then I learned not to buy things for yourself on your birthday because you might mess up a gift from some loving friends.  Oh well. You always need two pairs of sunglasses, right?!

To Birthdays!

Tis true. Today is my birthday and I'm officially 28.  I feel like I should still be in college, but instead I'm getting closer to the box you check that says 30-35.  I don't feel old, until I think that the babies from church when I was younger are now getting married or the fact that I have been married for 4.5 years and a 14 month old kid.  Life happens fast.  To celebrate, I'm going to spend all day with my love.  Even though she woke up screaming and hasn't really stopped.  Thank goodness for nap time.  And I'm going to ignore the fact that our heater is broken and I'm sitting here on a heating pad just to keep warm and the fact that our tub is still not level and Plumb Crazy wants to charge us $700 to come fix it.  To that I say, "You are just plumb crazy."  No, none of that bothers me today!!  Tonight I get to spend the evening with my wonderful family loves and enjoy some delicious sushi and home-made banana pudding.  I do keep thinking back to last year.  Let's not go there again!!  Hooray for birthdays!!!

Just for fun, here are some pics I took of Haylie the other day.

Contemplating her next move...I promise she isn't in time out!
 Crazy hair in the backyard.
I'm super in love with this picture.  Hooray for my crappy camera taking a beautiful shot.

The Bane of My Existence...

Is now finally level.  How's the bathroom project going, you ask?  Ugghh.  Justin and I spent 3.5 hours in the bathroom on Friday night lifting the 300 lb cast iron bathtub, re-shimming, putting it back down, testing out the level, measuring 14 times, repeat, repeat, repeat.  Saturday we thankfully went to see Dave Ramsey LIVE! so we were not able to spend the day on it.  Most of the day today was spent trying to figure out what the crap we were doing and even Ace, the Helpful Place was not so helpful.  Home Depot finally came to our rescue with some composite plastic shims that we could use and Justin ended up shimming that tub up like nobody's business.

It's done.  Finally.

Now we can move on to something else, like the rest of the bathroom.  This was the one thing that was keeping us from doing anything else.  I just can not express to you the hatred I felt in my heart towards the bathtub...I might not let anyone use it for fear of un-leveling it.  If that were to happen, I would cry and hopefully then my handy man hubby might finally just call someone to do it for us.

Sun-shiney Days

"Haylie, do you want to go up and down the porch steps a million times?"

"Ahh, so sweet that I finally found my own set of stairs to go up and down, up and down..."

"Don't make me come inside.  Ever."
These past few days have been gorgeous.  Doors wide open, spend as much time outside gorgeous.  Today we went to the zoo with cousin Eli, but apparently didn't take any pictures.  I love that we are hitting 80 degrees in the middle of February.  And even more that my baby loves being outside with me.  Gotta love this mild weather...even though we had snow on the ground just last week...thats just one reason why I love Oklahoma!

OH Valentine's Day

I'm not a huge fan of Valentine's Day.  I think it's a day that Hallmark created just to earn more revenue and to put added pressure on people.  Then those people have high expectations and then get mad when they aren't met.  That's why me and the hubby don't really celebrate.  We do get each other a card and maybe go to dinner and possibly a movie.  And that's pretty much what we did.  Starting out with the cards - mine to him said, "You had me at baby-sitter."  Funny, right?  Well, he read, "You had me at baby-SISTER."  Thus thinking I was trying to tell him something.  Not so funny.  Anyway, once that was cleared up, off we went to Fuji Sushi with the kid to celebrate as a family.  Let me just pause - it's NEVER a good idea to take an impatient, loud volumed child to a quiet, fancy restaurant on a night where it's supposed to be all love and magical.  Because the atmosphere around our table was not love and magical, it was stressful.  We ordered 4 sushi rolls and 1 HOUR later and thousands of yogurt melts and lots of other food that didn't work, we finally got our food, scarfed it down and left.  At one point I gave Haylie one of my chopsticks to play with and Justin said later that an older woman next to us was telling her husband to say something because that was so dangerous.  Well, maybe it was but it kept her happy.  For 2.5 minutes.  So off we ran to my sister's because they were gracious enough to watch Haylie so Justin and I could go see a movie.  We went to see Just Go with It and let me just say, I have not laughed that hard in a long time.  Like, out loud, stomach hurting, about to pee my pants laughing.  Great movie.

So lesson learned.  Leave the kid at home with a babysitter unless you want to dine at McDonald's Playhouse. And I'm pretty sure they don't serve sushi.

Sneaky Sneaky

Haylie has honestly been getting into everything.  The other day she threw the remote in the toilet.  And chapstick.  Now she knows that she can open cabinets and put her stuff in there and no one will know where it went until she remembers to go get it.
 Being sneaky.
She is adamant about helping with the dishes in the dishwasher.  So adamant, she insists on sitting on the door and pulling the drawer in and out.
Oh, and leaving her bunny to get an extra wash.

Extravaganza-ing

I had a friend text me today to see if I was still alive since I haven't blogged in forever.  Yes, I'm here.  I just feel like I have nothing exciting to say.  It snowed, we stayed inside.  It snowed again and we stayed inside some more.  But my sister's Valentine's Day Extravaganza is on Saturday and I'm looking forward to going.  My mom and I are making goodies to sell while there.  I tried making heart shaped cup cakes today, but instead they looked like butt cracks.  Oh well.  They will still taste delicious.  So if you are out and about on Saturday, stop on by.  For some butt crack cupcakes, of course.

Because She's Brilliant

I showed Haylie how to play this "game" on her Alphabet thingy earlier today and tonight she did it on her own.  All that Baby Einstein must be sinking in and she is becoming THE actual Baby Einstein.
I haven't done a list of things that I want to remember about Haylie in awhile and I know how everyone loves to read them. But this is my baby book for Haylie, so I win.
  • Haylie is sleeping for 12 hours-ish every night.  She still has a few moments when she wakes up and cries but she always goes right back to sleep.
  • Haylie is very direct.  If she wants something, she will point until she gets it.  Today she went and got me the Baby Einstein movie and later handed me her empty bowl and pointed towards the kitchen for more grapes.
  • She is very into her Bear still and says "Ba" when she wants it.  She gets very excited and hugs her bear when I let her take it out of her crib.
  • Walking like a champ!  If she falls down, she gets right back up!
  • A little fish in the water.  LOVES baths and will splash and play and have a good old time!
  • Unfortunately, she has started to hit and express a bad temper (which I have NO idea where that comes from...ahem)
  • Randomly lays down on the floor.
  • If she gets my phone (which she does often) she tends to call and text people.  Lately I've been catching her before she hangs up so I can apologize profusely to whomever she calls.
  • She loves to climb on things.
  • She does new and fun things every day!  I can't believe my baby is 14 months old!

Snowpocalypse 2011

I love that everyone on Facebook is referring to the Blizzard as Snowpocalypse.  It's perfect because it shows how much Oklahomans freak out when a little snow comes our way.  In PA, this would have been nothing...and we definitely would have had school.

But since Justin was off work today, we had a lazy day today.  Haylie decided to call Umpy and our friend Brooklyn and talk to them for about 5 minutes.  Later she called her Aunt Emily.  She had a LOT to say apparently.  I thought I had curbed her "prank calling" habits, but I guess not.

Snuggles with Daddy to keep warm!
The snow doesn't seem to end.
The wind was blowing like crazy!!
Silly Justin.  He thought he would have to go to work tomorrow.  So he shoveled the driveway while I ate cookies.  Lots of them.
And you can never be more prepared for the Snowpocalypse than to have all paci's ready...just in case.

Thoughts From Haylie

I'm going to be ornery and get up on the fireplace even though Daddy told me 1,000 times not to.
See?  I'm fine.  And I'm as tall as the fireplace!!  And look how small my mouth is.
 Do. Not. Take. Picture.
I'm a big girl in my big girl car seat!  My daddy turned me around.  Not sure what to think about it but at least my parents can see me now.
